Our Story

Portuguese architecture in Goa was not just a result of cultural exchange, but also of the region's natural resources. The use of laterite stone in construction, which is commonly found in Goa, was a major factor in the development of the region's architecture. Laterite is a type of soil that hardens when exposed to air, making it an ideal building material. The process of quarrying laterite stone involves cutting it from the earth using chisels and hammers, and then shaping it into blocks.

 

The process of quarrying in India has a long history that dates back to ancient times. The quarrying of stones and rocks was an essential part of construction, and many ancient monuments, such as the Taj Mahal, were built using locally sourced stone. In Goa, the quarrying of laterite stone was a significant industry during the Portuguese era, and it played a crucial role in the development of the region's architecture.

The Portuguese architects in Goa used the locally sourced laterite stone to build some of the region's most iconic structures. The use of the stone gave the buildings a unique reddish-brown colour, which has become synonymous with Goan architecture. The stone was also easy to shape and work with, allowing architects to create intricate designs and decorative elements.

 

The influence of Portuguese architecture in Goa can still be seen today, not only in the region's historical buildings but also in modern constructions. Architects in Goa continue to incorporate elements of Portuguese architecture into their designs, blending it with modern styles to create unique structures that pay homage to the region's rich architectural heritage.

 

The Fig House, located between a mountain and a bay and close to an old stone quarry, may have some historical significance in relation to the region's quarrying and stonemasonry industries.   POLICIES AND RULES  :

 

• Please keep the noise levels low. Guests next door may be resting.  

• Please maintain silence in the common areas. We intend to make it a peaceful stay for yourself and the other guests.

• There is a deposit of Rs 5000 ( Only in Cash) at the time of check-in for guests less than 6 days. Rs 10000/- for 7 days to 28 days. 28 days plus is 25000/-. This is refundable deposit. . Rs 200 extra charged for check-ins between 9 pm to 9 am . Please note that even a child between the age of 0-4 is charged at 1250 plus taxes and above 4 is mentioned on Airbnb.

• ID cards will be required at the time of check in. Photo ID with Address proof (Aadhar/Passport Copy)

• No parties or events allowed in the premises.

• Strictly no smoking inside the suites. There is a designated space in the terrace and the garden area to smoke and relax. Please throw cigarette butts into the ash tray instead of on the ground.

• There is fine of Rs 5000 for smoking in the suites. In case Sofa fabric/bed sheet gets burnt because of smoking then the fine will be higher.

• No pets allowed inside.

• No unregistered guests allowed inside the apartments. Booking should be in the Guests Name. -Allotment of the Suite/Flat will be either on ground floor or first or second floor and totally depends upon the availability. . At the time of booking please ensure that the number of guests are mentioned while booking

• Please refrain from bringing friends or family whose names aren’t stated in the reservation.

• Please don’t eat or drink in the bedrooms. Any heavy stains on the sheets would mean extra cost. .Price list for damages is in the room. •

• Keep your belongings carefully & at your own risk. •

• Please turn off the AC/Geyser when you go out. In case its on while the guests are out, the house keeping will have to shut it. • Please respect check-in and check-out timings. . Check -in time is 1 pm and check out-time is 10 am. . Check-in and Check-out is a 15 minute process so please be patient. Please ensure that all the formalities including 100% of payment and Damage Deposit has to be given before the check in and the deposit has to be in cash.

• Please take extra care of your keys. key replacement fee is Rs 700. Please take care of the Furniture/Fixtures/Furnishings/White Goods/Fittings etc. It’s very unpleasant for us to collect fines or ask for damages and we hope this situation never arises. Price list in case of damages will be available in the room.

• At the time of check in please do ensure that everything (all items/house) is in proper condition/order and do highlight if its not.

• Please don’t rearrange the furniture as it damages the furniture and fixtures and also leaves ugly scratches on the flooring. . Housekeeping will do a change of linen if asked (Sheets/Pillowcases/Towels) with a gap of 3 days free of charge.

• House Keeping will clean the place every alternate day free of charge. We expect you to respect the place and keep the place clean. However, at a cost (Rs 200 per cleaning) cleaning can be done daily.

• No hanging of clothes on the railings. • Laundry service is available at a reasonable price. • Bed sheets and towels can be changed after a gap of Three (3) days free of charge if required. In case extra sheets and towels are required in between, the charges will be Rs 50 for towel, Rs 100 for bed sheet and Rs 100 for duvet. Staff doesn't wash kitchen utensils and that you will be required to do it yourself.

• Swimming Pool is operational at present. Timings are from morning 7 am to 7 pm. Strictly in the swim attire which includes head gear for long hair. Shower before pool is a must. In case because of Covid if we are required to shut the pool then we will shut it without notice. • Strictly no eating/drinking around pool area.

• All fans/TV/Lights/ Internet has power backup. ACs, Induction & geyser doesn’t have power backup. • TV is connected to internet. You can watch your Netflix etc on it. . Filter water is available in the reception area and all the lobbies. You are free to collect it anytime during the day. . Internet is very consistent and in fact we have two providers, one as main and second as backup so that in case of failure, one can be replaced with another. However Internet sometimes may be down for reasons beyond our control. . All kind of Food can be arranged with prior notice. We aim to provide you with a home away from your home. . guests are requested to carry your own bags. . There is huge discount for 28 nights plus bookings (Long Term Stay) and because of that we expect the guests to pay Electricity charges as per meter and cleaning charges will be different.

     

   Cancellation & Prepayment Policies :

• The guest can cancel free of charge until 7 days before arrival. The guest will be charged 50% of the total price if they cancel within 7 days of arrival.

• You'll be charged a prepayment of 50% of the total price after booking.

• You'll accept prepayment by: Credit card. You'll refund within: 14 days.

• During Check-in There is a refundable deposit of 5000 rs. 

• Cancellations are allowed only before the check-in time.

• Rates may change without notice, except for confirmed reservations.

• Cancellation for the X'Mas and New Year period during December is not applicable, and full retention will be charged.                                                                                                                                                                                                              Booking Conditions:

• After the Booking of your stay. There is a refundable deposit of 5000rs at the time of check-in.

•  The balance must be paid a minimum of 1-5 days before check-in, and failure to do so may result in the hotel canceling the booking.

• Please note that certain packages and rates may have different cancellation and booking policies, which will be specified accordingly.
